weighted analysis

Debbie Hahs-Vaughn
Is there a reason why weighting an analysis would produce different results
when generating ANOVA using just the one-way ANOVA versus the general
linear model ANOVA?

When I run a one-way ANOVA (weights are applied), it produced a sample size
of 188 for group A and 1272 for group B (see syntax below).

ONEWAY
  outcome BY group
  /STATISTICS DESCRIPTIVES
  /MISSING ANALYSIS .

I then ran ANOVA using the general linear model (weights are applied) and
it produced a sample size of 2 for group A and 208 for group B (see
respective syntax below).

UNIANOVA
  outcome  BY group
  /METHOD = SSTYPE(3)
  /INTERCEPT = INCLUDE
  /PRINT = DESCRIPTIVE
  /CRITERIA = ALPHA(.05)
  /DESIGN = group .

Any thoughts on what may be causing the differences in sample sizes?
Thanks in advance.
